Engineer Requirements Summary

The Continuing Educational Units (CEU) credits, or PDH, for professional engineers, surveyors, and architects that are earned in our system apply for professionals in Alaska.

The classes maintain, improve, or expand the professionals skills and knowledge. Our educational content is developed by knowledgeable professionals and we take steps to ensure attendance and understanding by logging your hours and administering quizzes.

Alaska does not pre-approve course content. It is incumbent upon the registrant (you) to ensure the course content meets the board guidelines by applying to your discipline. In general, all CEU Leaf course for engineers may apply for AK renewal.

Continuing Education Renewal Notes:

Individual professionals and corporate renewals are done biannually in Alaska. This biennial requirement is outlined by the board and stipulates that it needs to be processed by December 31st of odd years. Registrants are encouraged to submit by December 1st for processing by 12/31 but they recognize the post mark on the envelope as the effective date. There is no grace period.

What PDH Subjects Qualify:

In Alaska, online course content can relate to a broad range of subject matter. Our CEU Leaf classes apply by meeting one or more of the following: (a) Address public health, safety, and welfare; (b) Relevant to professional architect, engineer, land surveyor, and may include managerial or ethical content; (c) Maintains, improves, or expands professional skills and knowledge; (d) Classes are well organized and sequential; and/or, (e) Courses developed by knowledgeable persons.

What Does Not Qualify:

AK does not specifically identify areas that do not apply. The professional self monitors the applicability of the course subject matter.
